Why hardly anyone drives there in August

Agua Amarga is a hamlet in the Níjar municipality, inside the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park, and it has the problem every small pretty village has: in July and August there is nowhere to put a car. Parking is limited, much of the centre is pedestrianised, and in high season vehicle access is regulated.

That is exactly why a taxi works so well on this run. We drop you at the edge of the village, you do not circle for twenty minutes, and you do not walk back uphill afterwards carrying beach things.

Most of our Agua Amarga journeys are in the evening — people going for dinner and coming back late, when there is no public transport and nobody fancies driving.

The route

We leave Carboneras on the coast road. It is roughly 20 kilometres and about 25 minutes, passing the turning for the Mesa Roldán lighthouse on the way. It is one of the good drives in the province — the sea is in view almost the whole way.

If there are several of you, say so when you book and we will send the right vehicle. Same for boards, bikes or child seats: tell us and we will have it ready.

There and back the same day

Most people book both legs at once: we take you over, agree a time for the return, and we are there. If dinner runs long, one call and we shift it.

If you would rather not commit to a time, that works too — just ring when you are ready. We run 24 hours, so there is no last pick-up to worry about.

Combine it with Playa de los Muertos

Playa de los Muertos is on the way, between Carboneras and Agua Amarga. Plenty of people spend the morning at the beach and the evening having dinner in Agua Amarga, with us doing both legs.
