The car park problem, solved

Playa de los Muertos appears on every list of the best beaches in Spain, and that has one direct consequence: in summer the car park at the viewpoint fills at first light and vehicle access is regulated. Turn up mid-morning and you will find the barrier down or a long queue.

None of that applies in a taxi. We drop you at the viewpoint, you walk down, and when you have had enough we are waiting at the time we agreed.

Access rules change from season to season. When you book we will tell you how it stands that particular day — living here is rather the point.

Worth knowing before you walk down

From the viewpoint to the sand is a footpath of about 15 minutes, steep in places and loose underfoot. Going down is fine. Coming back up in the middle of the day in flip-flops is another matter. Wear something with a sole and be ready for the climb.

There is nothing at all at the bottom: no beach bar, no shade, no water, no toilets. Whatever you need has to come down with you, and water comes first.

Phone signal is patchy in the cove, too. That is why it is worth fixing the pick-up time before you set off down, rather than counting on ringing us from the beach.

How we organise it

Most people book both legs at once: we take you up when you want and agree a time to collect you. If you decide to push it back once you are up there, ring from the viewpoint — the signal is usually fine at the top.

For groups, families with children, or if you are carrying a parasol and a cool box, say so and we will send something with room to spare.

The Mesa Roldán lighthouse, while you are there

The Mesa Roldán lighthouse is very close by, in the same stretch of coast. It has some of the best views in the whole of Almería, and scenes from Game of Thrones were filmed there — which is what brings a good number of people.

It can be combined with the beach in one booking. Mention it when you call and we will work it out.

Shall we run you up to the beach?

Ring us or send a WhatsApp and we will fix both the drop-off and the pick-up.
